I joined this site several months ago. There is a listing for potential clients to find freelancers, but the best part of the site in my opinion, are the exclusive reports written especially for members, and not distributed elsewhere. These alone are worth the low monthly membership fee.  Definitely worth a look if you're serious.

I've been a member for around four years, but only upgraded to 'pro' recently.  After I upgraded, work started to roll in.  

That said, I was not persistent when I was a free member.  However, as a free member, your bids are very limited.  Pro members get way more per month.  In my opinion it's well worth the money to upgrade if you're willing to check the site regulary and place bids. (And there is a time comitment to set up your profile.)

Don't pay for the upgrade if you're not willing to follow through.
